Latin American | How To Toast Cumin Seeds
Posted on February 9, 2011
This takes a minute or two, but well worth the effort. I always toast and grind my own cumin seeds. The difference in taste is amazing. You can use this method on other seeds as well, for example coriander seeds and sesame seeds.
Ingredients
whole cumin seeds
Method
Heat small pan over fairly high heat. Add cumin seeds. Let sit, then move seeds around by shaking the pan back and forth. Seeds are toasted when they change color and smell more like cumin. Pour seeds into mortar and pestle, and grind.
