Japanese | Fried Rice with Nori
Posted on January 18, 2017
I've been making fried rice for many years, without a recipe. I came across this recipe and love the addition of nori and black sesame seeds. My new favorite fried rice!
Yield: 4 servings
Ingredients
2 tablespoons grapeseed oil
2 cups brown rice, cooked and cooled
1 sheet toasted nori seaweed, cut into thin strips using kitchen shears
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon toasted black sesame seeds
2 green onions, thinly sliced
Method
Heat the olive oil in a large nonstick skillet set over high heat. Add the rice and cook, stirring until warmed through and just barely beginning to brown, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the nori along with the remaining ingredients. Stir to combine and serve immediately.
Brenda's tip: Fried rice is usually made with day-old rice. If I forget to make it in advance, I make it a few hours before I need it. Then spread it out on a sheet pan and put the sheet pan with rice in the refrigerator to cool down.
